My Wishes Five.

It’s party time at Mango Meadows; strange combinations seem to be happening at various parties. Then advent calendar, then the wish list for Santa… the FedEx guys were pitching to convince Santa to drop his Reindeer express and opt for FedEx instead, when Santa looked at the wish list from India they all had a special request don’t use FedEx, we don’t mind not getting gifts but having to pick our gifts from the FedEx office and listen to the manager (by the way his secret name is Homeo-Obnoxious) is a definite no-no.

Then of course the New Year resolutions… the standard New Year greetings, made easy with a standard Whatsapp and every one forwarding the same. How I miss the personal,”Feliz Na Vida…Prospero Ano Felicidad”

My friend Sadie thought so too. Unlike me she is proactive. She invited us for a first New Year Weekend party. It was a girl’s party, as most of us had served our term as “Momma’s” and didn’t have to rush home to ensure homework was done or whatever.

“Hi wish you a happy new year,”

“Hi wishing all your dreams comes true”

I mean each of us walked in, with either of this greeting.  When we got back I wondered what it was all about so vague, did we really mean it?

We are given these belief systems… to wish is to want, to want is to be greedy, and to be greedy is loose your brownie points and Chitragupta follows negative marking system…. we don’t really pay heed to our wishes.

When in doubt, consult, so here is what Merriam Webster says, Wish is a transitive verb. Wish is to have a desire for something. Wish is to give expression like I wish you a happy New Year.  It is also an order we say we cannot wish our problems away. It could be intransitive verbs like to have a desire wishing for more, to make a wish like wish on a falling star.

It was only then I realized that when we say we wish for something we actually want something deeper…

When I wish for money I am looking to be carefree and secure… When I wish for power I am looking for control…When I am wishing beauty I am looking for love and acceptance.  Though often we do not connect and acknowledge this I think we know this in our subconscious.

So here is a quote I read long ago, the author please forgive me I have forgotten your name

“If you are a dreamer come in
If you are a dreamer a wisher a liar
A hoper a pray-er a magic-bean-buyer
If you’re a pretender com sit by my fire
For we have some flax golden tales to spin
Come in!
Come in!”

Let us dream and then put out the wishes, for you did not have the capacity to make your wild wishes a reality they would not be there in the first place.  The only person holding you back is yourself. You will achieve everything you dream, you will have everything you wish for … to the exact extent you deem it possible. It’s just that simple

Wishing is like a flip of wanting…I make a wish  by the power of the universe, that it will awaken the genie within you to grant yourself  your wish… to wish away the ills… to wish you abundance of joy, freedom, fun and health just the way you would wish and envision it…Amen.

“May Light always surround you;
Hope kindle and rebound you.
May your Hurts turn to Healing;
Your Heart embrace Feeling.
May Wounds become Wisdom;
Every Kindness a Prism.
May Laughter infect you;
Your Passion resurrect you.
May Goodness inspire
your Deepest Desires.
Through all that you Reach For,
May your arms Never Tire.”
― D. Simone

After all only when I wish you well will my wishing well fill…. oh! My wishes  for Sadie… clarity of thought, autonomy, travel, connect to self- family and community, get back body-mind-spirit balance.
