Weege city?

Which city, would I pick to visit and why?

City an incorporated British town usually of major size or importance having the status of an Episcopal. In the land of uncle Sam, it is an incorporated municipal unit of the highest

But what about rest of the world? How does the 13th century debutante manifest. It has travelled a long away from the civitas in Latin that meant citizenship to the civis that meant cities in Rome, to cite in Anglo-French to become citie that meant large or small town in Middle English.

Coming back which turf?

There are times l like to be in cities, a city like Bombay, Chennai, and Delhi and get lost in the anonymity of it all. I love at that moment being around lots of other people, I reminded that there are billions of people like me, and we are each stuck inside of our minds feverishly trying to crawl out to make connections with other people! G.K.Chesterton comments in the Heretics—the man who lives in a small community lives in a much larger world. He knows much more of the fierce variety and uncompromising divergences of men… in a large community, we can choose our companions. In small communities our companions are chosen for us. Thus in all extensive civilized society groups come into existence founded upon sympathy and shut out the real world more sharply than the gates of monastery. There is nothing really narrow about the clan the thing which narrow is the clique.

Jane Jacobs makes an interesting observation in the book the and life of great American cities.—cities have the capacity of providing something for everybody only because and when they are created by everybody. Probably that’s what makes Bombay tick, there is a need and there is someone filling it. The society is created by need and them being met. It is like a large network of outsourcing. The outsourcing sustains and creates the community that it touches.

Whaich city?

Well this is how it is with travel and migration, one city gives you gifts and another robs you. One gives you the hearts affection and the other destroys your soul. Cities and countries are alive as feeling as fickle and uncertain as people. Their degrees of love and devotion are varying with any human relation. Just as one is good another is bad, yet we take our wares and move from one market to the other creating our cities and country, collecting our artefact. Somewhere when we return the cities are no more there for the market is new so is the vendor the country and city and now a new love and new ideal.

No other city than the city of Dwaraka tells this truth more poignantly. The city built by Vasudeva Krishna, for the yadavas, today lies a submerged relic on the west coast of India, where the river Gomati meets the sea.

The city of myths and grandiose, lay forgotten from the era of the Yadavas till early 80’s when the archaeologists stumbled on it. The legendary city of Lord Krishna is a city I would like to see.

plinky dwaraka 2Worried about the attack on Mathura by the rival kings Jarasandha and Kalyavana Krishna created Dwaraka on the coast of saurashtra. The legend goes that the Lord invoked Vishwakarma the lord of constructions to create the city. But vishwakarma said he could complete the task only if samudradeva the lord of the seas provided some land. Srikrishna worshipped samudradeva who was pleased and gave 12 yojanas of land to build the city. The city is believed to have disappeared when the Lord passed away.
