Best Month of the Year

Which is my favourite month of the year and why?

January cold and desolate;

February dripping wet;

March wind ranges;

April changes;

Birds sing in tune

To flowers of May,

And sunny June

Brings longest day;

In scorched July

The storm-clouds fly,

Lightning-torn;

August bears corn,

September fruit;

In rough October

Earth must disrobe her;

Stars fall and shoot

In keen November;

And night is long

And cold is strong

In bleak December.

– – – Christina Giorgina Rossetti “The Months

Actually each month is special and each unique. I love them all equal for that uniqueness.

If you insist the first among equal would be July, with the unceasing rains, thunderstorms. Shades of green, a little dampness and most of all, people minding their business.

I feel secure nurtured and revived. Maybe a little nostalgic, of those growing years, jumping the puddles and floating paper boats.

Coffee or soup completing the picture.
